Whom Do You Wear Your Poppy For?

A Poppy For…

A Poppy For...

We chalked a poem for Remembrance Day

Those who came before us
Those who lost
                family members,
                     parents,
                            children,
                                   lovers,
                                         friends
Those who lost themselves
Those who were silenced
Those whose stories were never told
Those who fought
Those who were forced to fight
Those who fought in other battles
                  Mental
                        Emotional
                               Physical
Those who were threatened
Those who struggled with ethics
Those who lived in hiding
Those who were forced to witness
Those who had to choose for others
Those who were forced to choose sides
Those who were torn apart by Nationalism
Relations that were destroyed by Politics
Lives that were stolen by
Notions of Honour
Promises of Glory
Fabricated Visions of Victory
All that was stolen
               By War.
